Meet: Consultant Arjan
Who are the people behind our healthcare IT solutions? We'd love to introduce them to you! This time, it's Senior Consultant Arjan's turn.
Name: Arjan de Jong
Role: Senior Consultant
Time at CODE24: 7,5 years
Hobbies: cooking, reading (thrillers!), taking walks, watching series.
“CODE24's core values fit very well with who I am as a person. I find it important to be reliable, to keep developing myself, to be connected to the people I work with. I am also very interested in new technology, i.e. innovation!"
Hey Stefan! What is your job at CODE24 like?
“I am a bit of a ‘jack of all trades’, haha! I mainly work on projects such as the implementation of our software or a migration project, and as a senior I also help colleagues where necessary. I deal with technology to a high degree - that is also where my background lies, having studied computer science - and I have worked as a developer for years. Even so, I don't see myself as a techie at heart - I don't see technology as a goal in itself, but find it most interesting when I can use technology to make a difference for the customer.”
WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE WORK DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
“No day is the same! That is also my preference. I mainly deal with the projects that we are working on at that moment, I make sure to dedicate blocks of time for that. Migration projects, for example. I have a lot of meetings with our customers and also keep in touch with colleagues internally, for spar sessions or to check the status of something, for instance.
Oh, and currently, I am on site at GGZ Noord-Holland-Noord [A Dutch mental health organisation, one of our customers] every Thursday. That is very valuable. You can make contact with people faster, you learn a lot from it, you see their pain points faster and you see what you're actually doing it all for.”
What skills are most important for your role?
“The human piece is very important. As a consultant, you have to be sociable, customer-friendly. You have to be a good listener, not filling things in for the other person. You also need to be able to think analytically, so you can quickly see connections.
Besides, we remain an IT company, so a certain degree of technical knowledge is also necessary - even if programming knowledge is certainly not a must. We have consultants here who are more technical and others who have more healthcare knowledge. Both have their value.
What do you like best about your job?
“That I can use technology to help our clients move forward and in doing so contribute to making healthcare better. I also like to see the results of what I do - that is why an organisation like CODE24 suits me very well, what we do is technical but the results are also very tangible.”
What would you like to achieve?
“Whew, that's a tricky one! I don't necessarily see myself as a very ambitious person, although I don't want my development to stagnate. I want to keep learning - keep up with technological advancements, for example around AI. Besides that, I am also interested in psychology. Why do people do the things they do? How do dynamics arise between people? I would like to learn more about that.
In any case, I see plenty of opportunities to keep developing within CODE24.”
What should people know about CODE24, according to you?
“We are a very open organisation with nice people. We have a clear goal: to improve healthcare. I think everyone here feels that keenly.”
