16 years of CODE24!

Sixteen years. For an IT company, that’s practically an eternity! On 14 February this year (yes, Valentine’s Day), CODE24 celebrated exactly that milestone. While the technology around us continues to evolve at lightning speed, we remain true to the vision on which we were founded: improving healthcare through smart standardisation. From the very first lines of code to today’s complex digital solutions, CODE24 has grown along the way, without ever losing its identity.

We asked our three founders what sixteen years of entrepreneurship have taught them.

“We’ve achieved some truly great things over those 16 years! But it certainly didn’t happen by itself. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that if you want something to happen, you have to be willing to take the initiative yourself. Especially when you’re just starting out, opportunities don’t simply come your way – you have to work hard to make them happen. 

 Ultimately, it helped that from the very beginning we had a clear vision and motivation. Creating a paradigm shift in healthcare IT takes effort, but that effort pays off. When I look at where the market stands today, it makes me very optimistic about the future.”

On to many more milestones!

Sixteen years of CODE24 in three lessons: build products that genuinely solve real problems, have the courage to take the initiative yourself, and keep believing in your vision – even when the market isn’t quite ready for it yet.

What stands out in the stories of Alessandro, Martin and Sebastian is the combination of drive and patience. The belief in open standards and data availability was there from day one, but the rest of the world also needed time to catch up. That requires both time and perseverance.

With the phase healthcare IT is currently entering – a phase in which open standards are being embraced as the foundation for sustainable innovation – it seems the best years for CODE24 may still lie ahead. We’re looking forward to them!
